Pirelli & C S p A : announces the race solutions for the first round of the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship in MotorLand Aragn, Spain | MarketScreener

The Spanish circuit of MotorLand Aragón is preparing to host from 8th to 10th April the first round of the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship. The series, now in its 35th season, is the nineteenth with Pirelli as the Official Sole Tyre Supplier for all classes.

The Italian tyre brand will take the role of Event Main Sponsor for the renamed Pirelli Aragon Round, and confirms the commitment with which it continues to invest in the Championship of the fastest production derived machines as a platform for developing its tyres in conjunction with international visibility for the brand.

The Spanish MotorLand Aragón circuit has a rather aggressive asphalt, especially harsh towards the rear tyres. In fact, the surface has a pronounced roughness and the sand, which in windy days can be deposited on the track, may cause loss of grip and drift towards the centre of the corners. Pirelli has opted for both soft and medium solutions, the latter being useful especially during the morning test sessions in the event of low temperatures. The front tyres, in addition to the wear caused by the aggressiveness of the asphalt, are also called to withstand violent braking at the end of the straight opposite the pits, and the steep slopes, which cause high loading on the front end. Also notable are the fast corners and multiple changes of direction, where a good level of precision and grip is required.

The solutions for the WorldSBK and WorldSSP classes:

In the WorldSBK class, all riders will have available three front and as many rear solutions.

For the front tyre, Pirelli allowsthe choice between two standard solutions, the standardSC1 soft compound and the standard SC2 medium compound, and one development solution. The development solution A0674 in soft compound was used and appreciated by the riders in 2021, during the Jerez e Portimão rounds. Compared to the standard SC1, this features a new structure developed to improve front end feeling by increasing support in mid and corner entry.

As for the rear tyre options, riders have available two standard and one development solutions. The standard ones are the softSC0 compound and the super soft SCX compound, which was also known in 2021 as the development solution A0557. Starting from its debut in Misano, this was the most used SCX solution in the SBK grid. The development solution SCQ in A1359 specification represents the firstextra soft compoundtyrethat was validated by the riders during the winter tests, allowing for a considerable improvement in lap times compared to the SCX compound.

In the WorldSSP category there will be five dry solutions available to the riders, two for the front and as many for the rear. For the front Pirelli will allow a choice between the new standardSC1 soft compound, evolution of the development SC1 A0460, and a standardSC2 medium compound.

For the rear, WSSP riders will have at their disposal the super soft compound SCX, the soft compound SC0 and the medium SC1 compound, all from the standard range.

As always, in case of bad weather, riders of all classes will have rain and intermediate tyres available.

More details on the test solutions for the WorldSBK and WorldSSP classes are available in the technical sheets attached to this release.
